![]() So it was quite natural for the idea to be transposed into the PC computer world. HOTAS enables pilots to use the avionics, radar and weapons systems without having to remove their hands from the control column or the throttle. Of all the major advances that have resulted from their research, the HOTAS concept has been a real revolution. For decades, military aeronautics engineers have been trying to improve the human interface in aircraft involved in extreme combat situations. What else should I be doing to help set these up? Right now I can't map most of the buttons.Īlso how do I set up the virtual cockpit the lookout around freely without just having the basic snap to the left, right, up or down? Want to be able to pan around the cockpit like I've seen being done on videos. The article first appeared in Tom’s Hard News Email Newsletter All I have done so far is select the HOTAS Cougar from the selection list in WT. Haven't heard beck from Thrustmaster yet. ![]() I haven't downloaded any drivers yet because I'm not sure what drivers to download. Which software are you referring to? The original software on the CD or the software that TM is offering on their site? The procedure described is what I and countless others on other flight sims have done to get the Cougar to work with Windows 10. Originally posted by Ripley:The software maybe outdated but so is the Hotas, The driver will work fine as well as the Thrustmaster control centre and even Foxy, unless you want to fight with TARGET. Don't like to download things into my computer that I'm not sure.Īnyway I left a message for TM. There was one that was dated as previously as 2008 but I'm not sure what these files do. I went on the Thrustmaster site for the HOTAS Cougar and there are a bunch of files they have listed. The only thing I could do was fire the gun using the joystick trigger. Instead moving the joystick only moved the camera around the tank. No matter what I did I couldn't get the turret to move using the joystick. ![]() Tried to set up the rudders to control left and right but it has to be done by using braking motions and I'm not sure how to apply that to the rudders. I could go forward and backwards using the throttle but it kept spinning around in a circle as if one of the brakes was stuck. Tried to set something up for the tanks and that was even worse. My plane kept pulling to the left on the roll axis like a car that's out of alignment. The stick and throttle worked but when I finally did get it to recognize the rudders all of my other axis where out of alignment. At first I couldn't get the RCS (Rudder Control System) to be recognized. Yes the game has standard setup for the TM HOTAS Cougar to recognize it but what a mess. has infos how to configure WT's controls for HOTAS & pedals.īut beware that HOTAS and pedals will only give you an advantage in sim battles, in arcade & realistic battles the people using mouse aim will have a big advantage in aiming (and actually hitting) things. Windows 10 will probably install some basic drivers.īut Thrustmaster has current drivers for them, no idea where you got the idea the web site won't be of any help.
